Our Work

Rainier Climate invests in solutions that dramatically cut greenhouse gas emissions at the speed and scale required to reach net-zero by 2050—or sooner.

We are committed to working across the sectors and regions that contribute most to global emissions, deploying strategic investments and partnerships to accelerate climate solutions. Our focus areas will continue to evolve as we respond to the shifting urgency and opportunity of the global climate crisis.

Our Current Focus Areas

Energy Systems and Transportation

We support solutions that scale clean energy and sustainable transportation to transform the world’s energy and mobility systems.

Forests and Land Use

Recognizing the crucial role healthy ecosystems play in combating climate change, we invest in initiatives that stop deforestation and promote sustainable land-use practices—ensuring both people and nature thrive.

Buildings and Industry

Our investments target innovative technologies and approaches to decarbonize buildings and industry, accelerating the transition to efficient, low-carbon infrastructure.

Super Pollutants

We support efforts to reduce and phase out super pollutants—powerful greenhouse gases with outsized near-term climate impacts—through policy, technology, and market-based solutions.

Communications and Public Engagement

We invest in efforts to effectively communicate climate solutions, build coalitions across sectors and regions, and engage the public to mobilize action and maximize impact.

Climate Finance

We recognize the critical role of private and public capital and invest in approaches that unlock and direct capital toward scalable climate solutions.

Our Approach

The most effective way to avoid the worst impacts of climate change is to dramatically cut greenhouse gas emissions. We know that public and private sectors have critical roles to play in reducing emissions through policy and investment—this guides our approach.

We seek to catalyze collaboration between the public and private sectors—recognizing the public sector’s role to set ambitious standards and provide incentives alongside private sector efforts to innovate and implement solutions at scale.

We prioritize targeted, high-impact interventions in regions responsible for the majority of global emissions—including the United States, China, India, Brazil, Europe, and Southeast Asia—to maximize global climate benefits.

We embrace the complexity of the climate challenge and are committed to meeting people where they are—recognizing that partnering with communities is essential to reaching net-zero emissions. We do this work so that people and our planet can thrive together!
